Prizes and Awards of the Japanese Cancer Association

The Tomizo Yoshida Prize

The Yoshida Tomizo Kenshokai (Asakawa-cho, Fukushima) and the Japanese Cancer Association award the Yoshida Tomizo Prize to cancer researchers of excellence, in memory of the great cancer researcher, Dr. Tomizo Yoshida, with the goal of stimulating further research on cancer.

The Mataro Nagayo Prize

The Japanese Cancer Association has established the Mataro Nagayo Prize in commemoration of the great cancer researcher, Dr. Mataro Nagayo, who founded the Japanese Cancer Association. This prize is awarded to researchers who have achieved excellence in the fields of clinical care and social medicine related to cancer.

The JCA-Mauvernay Award

The Japanese Cancer Association and Debiopharm have jointly established the JCA-Mauvernay Award, to recognize the cutting edge oncology research in both basic and applied aspects and to encourage Japanese researchers to make their work available to other parts of the world.

JCA-CHAAO Award

The Japanese Cancer Association and Chugai Foundation for Innovative Drug Discovery Science (C-FINDs) have jointly established the JCA-CHAAO Award, to honor the researcher(s) or the research group who contributed to the better management of cancer patients through the research and development of new anti-cancer drug or cancer treatment.

JCA International Award

The Japanese Cancer Association established the JCA International Award to recognize foreign researcher(s) living abroad (in Asia and Oceania, in principle) who have made outstanding contributions to the Japanese Cancer Association, such as by actively participating in the International Session that was launched by the Japanese Cancer Association as part of its efforts to internationalize its activities.

JCA Women Scientists Award

To encourage women of science to pursue careers in cancer research, the Japanese Cancer Association has established the JCA Women Scientists Award to commend outstanding achievements by Japanese women in the field of cancer research.

The Young Investigator Awards of the Japanese Cancer Association

The Young Investigator Awards of the Japanese Cancer Association are awarded to members of the JCA who have published research that would make remarkable contributions to the advancement of cancer research and are expected to make further progress. This prize is awarded to under 40 years old. This prize is awarded for research conducted for the most part in Japan.
